Hello! I'm a clinical mental health counseling student who just started my practicum and was wanting some guidance on if SPACE might be a good fit for a client I'm seeing. 10 year old girl with OCD tendencies that appear to be related to control and attachment with mom. The behaviors only really happen at home. Behaviors include a specific bedtime ritual (that involves mom and dad), not wanting her siblings in her space, wanting parents to clean the couch and other furniture, disinfecting her space, needing mom to do her hair for sports, etc. I have been working with the kid for a couple sessions, but she does not see anything wrong with her behaviors and isn't super aware of the thoughts behind them. Any advice would be great! thank you!

Also, to help gain insight and awareness you might want to suggest that the whole family watch the film Unstuck: An OCD kids movie, together. The Unstuck website also has some great resources including videos for siblings.
Hi Kaylee- welcome! I would say that’s not just OCD tendencies, but rather actual childhood OCD, and yes, SPACE Treatment is perfect, if the parents are empathetic and can work well together.
